KYLE SEEBACK, M.P. REACTS TO FALL ECONOMIC STATEMENT 2024 – JUSTIN TRUDEAU RAN A $62 BILLION DEFICIT
OTTAWA, ON – Kyle Seeback, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, released the following statement on Justin Trudeau’s Fall Economic Statement 2024:
“The Fall Economic Statement has confirmed what Canadians already knew and feared - everything is out of control with Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government. He finally revealed his true deficit number of $62 billion, which means he overshot his deficit target by a whopping $20 billion, blowing through the ‘guardrails’ supposedly put in place to limit the damage. This was already worsening inflation and will continue compounding the struggles of Dufferin-Caledon and Canadians across the country.”
“On top of it all, just hours before Justin Trudeau’s Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland, was scheduled to table the Fall Economic Statement that was expected to crash through her $40 billion economic ‘guardrail’ and taking it over the fiscal cliff, she resigned explaining she no longer has confidence in the Prime Minister. Justin Trudeau along with Carbon Tax Carney pressured her to bring on massive, unsustainable, irresponsible spending increases, which even she could not accept. Outside of this government, there is no government in the history of Canada that has ever run a $62 billion deficit.”
“Canadians across the country needed to see the Trudeau government taking the threat of a 25 per cent tariff seriously in the Fall Economic Statement. Instead, it’s just more chaos, division, and weakness. It must stop.”
“It’s clear Canada cannot go on this way. We have a finance minister resigning in the middle of an economic crisis. We have a housing minister resigning in the middle of a housing crisis. This is happening while we have two million Canadians lined up at food banks, 1,400 homeless encampments in Ontario alone, the doubling of gun crime, and carbon taxes that will delete $40 billion from our GDP.”
“Justin Trudeau has lost control, yet he clings to power. Now is the time for a carbon tax election to put the decision of how best to move forward back into the hands of Canadians. Conservatives are ready to present a plan to Canadians that will axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget, and stop the crime. We’re ready to bring it home for Canadians.”
