Bill C-232 – Keeping Dangerous Offenders in Maximum Security Prison

In May 2023, Canadians were shocked when infamous serial killer Paul Bernardo was transferred from a maximum-security prison to a medium-security prison.

Conservatives have introduced a bill to keep dangerous offenders, like Paul Bernardo, in maximum-security prison.

If passed, the bill would require all court-ordered dangerous offenders and mass murderers to be permanently assigned a maximum-security classification. It would also repeal the Liberals’ “least restrictive environment” standard for assigning inmates to prison and restore the language of “necessary restrictions.”

Conservatives will ensure monsters like Paul Bernardo, and other dangerous mass murderers and violent criminals, stay where they belong: in maximum-security prison.
