Kyle Seeback, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, today announced the Orangeville Legion, Colonel Fitzgerald Branch 233, has received $10,845.04 in funding support from the Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund.
“This is critically important support, which will help ensure this Legion Branch survives and continues to provide the many outstanding programs and services our community relies on, not to mention the essential role it plays in supporting our Veterans” said Mr. Seeback. He went on to state, “Legions here in Dufferin-Caledon and across Canada have been hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s an issue I’ve raised repeatedly here in the riding and in Ottawa. I was pleased to support the Legion in this effort and it’s extra special being able to make the announcement just days before Christmas.”
The Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund provides grants to non-profit and registered charitable organizations that support Veterans and their families. The grants will help organizations with operational costs and financial shortfalls caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“These funds are being made available to help our branch recover the impact of COVID-19,” said Orangeville Legion President, Barry Kimber. “We as a Veterans organization continue to provide support to our local veterans and their families. This grant will go a long way in helping our community. On behalf of our members, we would like to thank our Member of Parliament, Kyle Seeback, in his support for the Veterans and our organization.”
