How Should I Vote – Bill C-289:  An Act to amend the Criminal Code (identity verification)

Adam Chambers (Simcoe North) prepared this bill, which proposes to give authorities more tools to catch and convict criminals and deter money laundering activity.

 

If adopted, Bill C-289 would:

· amend the Criminal Code, making it an offense to provide false information to a person or entity listed in section 5 of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) & Terrorist Financing Act.

· Those found in violation could face a prison term of up to 10 years and/or a fine of up to $1,000,000 CAD.
